One of the prominent poets of Bangladesh, Helal Hafiz was born on October 7, 1948. His poems are lively and full of emotion. Though he was not directly attached to any political affair, the lines of his poems are used in wall writings and posters during the Liberation war of Bangladesh. One of the major themes of his poems is the gulf of love for the land and the love for the beloved. His first collection poems Je Jale Agun Jwale’ took him to the peak of success in his literary career. It also brought him the title of ‘Best Seller’ status in Ekushey Book Fair of that year. Some of his well-known poems are ‘Rakhal’, ‘Prithak Pahad’, ‘Ohonkar’, ‘Echhe Chhilo’, ‘Name Bhumikai’, etc.
