One of the prolific writers of Bangladesh, Abu Ishaque was born on November 1, 1926. He wrote his first novel ‘Abhishap’ in his school days which was later published in the Azad Magazine of Calcutta. Though he started his career early, it reached its zenith with the publication of ‘Surja Dighal Bari’. The novel was based on the context of World War, Famine and Communal riots. His other literary pieces are ‘Padmar Palidwip, ‘Jaal’, ‘Jook’, ‘Haarem’. He was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award, Ekushey Padak for his contribution to literature. He passed away in 2003.
