অবনীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর

The founder of the Indian Society of Oriental Art, Abanindranath Tagore was born on August 7, 1872. He is best known for incorporating Indian culture and values into his work of art to counter western influence. However, he is also an acclaimed writer and his contribution to children’s literature is unforgettable.

His ‘Khirer Putul’ is still regarded as one of the favourite books of children. Besides, there are books like Budo Angla, and Rajkahini that too prove his literary proficiency. Tagore also wrote some critical essays on fine arts that are enough to establish him as a writer. He passed away on December 5, 1951.
